This event has passed. The governor’s Healthy California for All Commission is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, August 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Robust attendance by single payer supporters is having an impact.

Public comment can be spoken (time permitting), written into the chat, or submitted in writing to the Commission. Points can address the topic of a particular meeting (see topics for future meetings here) or express general support for single payer. The main point, forever and always, is that the most cost-effective way possible to guarantee one high standard of health care for everyone is built into the single payer model itself. It creates one giant risk pool–with everybody in and nobody out–having one comprehensive plan for everyone, with one public fund negotiating prices and paying all the bills. This lowers costs while expanding care. Savings to help fund the system come from recouping taxpayer, employer, and personal dollars now wasted on administrative inefficiency and profiteering by insurers and pharmaceutical companies.
