A new bill calling for establishment of a single-payer universal healthcare system in California was introduced this month in the state legislature.
Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) introduced AB 2200, The Guaranteed Health Care for All Act, sponsored by the California Nurses Association (CNA).
AB 2200 replaces a spot bill, AB 1690, introduced last year. With one year to go in the current two-year session, the bill must pass the full Assembly in May.
