On Friday, March 20 from 10:00 AM till 5:30 PM there will be a rally at the State Capitol in support of AB1900, the latest single payer bill introduced by Ash Kalra and sponsored by the California Nurses Association.
Scheduled speakers include:
- Butch Ware PhD, UCSB professor of African and African American history and Green Party candidate for governor of CA
- Melina Abdullah PhD, former chair of Pan-African Studies at Cal State LA and one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter
- Kshama Sawant, a socialist who served in the Seattle city council for 10 years where she was responsible for passing the $15 minimum wage and is now running for US representative
- Kenneth Mejia, a 35 yo Filipino American CPA who is city controller of LA and co-founded We Can Make a Difference, a community volunteer organization that provided food and hygiene items to low-income and homeless people.
