Here’s a bandwagon single payer supporters can jump on! Abdul El-Sayed, doctor, epidemiologist, municipal and county health director, Columbia University professor, and co-author of–wait for it–Medicare for All: A Citizen’s Guide (2021)–is running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. He’ll be competing in the primary race prior to the 2026 election to replace retiring incumbent Gary Peters-D. El-Sayed is credited with improving public health as director of the Detroit Health Department and the youngest heath commissioner of a major U.S. city.

The fundraiser is hosted by the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW).
