The State Strategy Group (SSG) for single payer is a coalition of 23 organizations that was co-founded by Health Care for All – California and the California School Employees Association. The mission of the coalition is to support the passage of single payer legislation and to support the growth and development of the grassroots campaign in California, the California OneCare Campaign. One current priority of the SSG is to promote collaboration of member organizations at the grassroots level. Another priority of the SSG is to develop an updated “funding” plan for SB 810.

The SSG conducts monthly conference calls, regular statewide meetings, coordinated campaign events and rallies, and agreed upon tactical campaigns. Currently, the two tactical campaigns are to secure endorsements for SB 810 (Endorsement Campaign) and to elect single payer supporters in key Assembly and Senate districts (Healthy Majority Campaign). Andrew McGuire, Executive Director of HCA, chairs the SSG.
